It can be daunting coming to a worship service for the first time. Here is a brief run-down of what to expect at Shepherd of the Hills to make your visit as simple and enjoyable as possible.
At Shepherd we have one weekly worship service: you can find out more about when and where we meet here.
Regardless of when you worship with us though you can expect to be greeted as a friend, even if you have come through the door for the first time.
Sunday services are varied. The first and third Sunday are traditional liturgical services. The second Sunday features multimedia and more contemporary music and a more relaxed liturgy. The fourth Sunday alternates between traditional services or worship services featuring our praise band led by sister Carol Reausaw.
Our teaching time is focused on taking the deep truths of The Bible and explaining them in a manner that makes sense today. We spend most of the year following the common revised lectionary, with occasional breaks for special topics. We try to keep all our sermons short, to the point and meaningful.
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at every service: this really keeps us focused on the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. All baptized Christians are invited to partake, regardless of denomination or faith background.
Don’t feel like you need to run out right away! Following Sunday services we meet in the fellowship hall for refreshments. We look forward to meeting you!
Our sanctuary is big and beautiful, and we know that sometimes, such environment makes it hard to hear everything. This is why we are equipped with the latest hearing-aid technology, so that everyone can comfortably follow along during our worship services! Come and ask: we’ll show you what a difference it can make!
